Abstract
Teacher efficiency and career interest as predictors of secondary students' attitudes towards biology in Epe in Lagos state were investigated. Descriptive design of survey type was adopted. A sample of 300 senior secondary school students was randomly selected from 10 schools for the study. Teacher Efficiency Scale (TES) (r = .85), Career Interest Inventory (CII) (r = .71) and Students' Attitude Towards Biology Questionnaire (SATBQ) (r = .80) were the research instruments. Data were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation and multiple regression. Results showed that teacher efficiency (â = .567; t = 11.970; p < .05) predicted students' attitude towards biology more and then, career interest (â = .095; t = 2.009; p < .05). Thus, teacher efficiency and career interest should not be taken for granted concerning students' attitude towards biology. Therefore, the school administrators should closely supervise the teachers for high performance.
